What is the foundational right of our republic democracy? Speech? Religion? Second Amendment? Voting?
If you picked voting, we are in alignment. Without voting we have no voice, no choice, no representation and therefore no democracy. So why is voting being attacked? Is it fraudulent? Is it unsafe and insecure? Is it sour grapes from 2020? Or is it just another distraction in a line of many concurring distractions? For the past few months, it seems distractions are on Columbian expresso.
We are constantly machine gunned with distraction after distraction when all we want is Epstein answers. It has come to pass that we are no longer triggered by what happens in our country no matter how horrific it is because it blatantly comes across as a hole that needs to be filled because we don’t have the Jeffery answers to fill it with.
How do we make an issue go away? We flood the media zone with more and more answers, not more and more questions like what we see going on with the current administration. For example, attempting to fire the Fed Chair; proclaiming vote by mail is fraudulent; placing 50% tariffs on India; arming the National Guard in DC; whitewashing the Smithsonian; taking over the Kennedy Center; firing the Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics because of jobs number are dismal.
Throw a distraction bomb at every piece of bad news is one way to govern and it is causing us to be numb to chaos.
Why attack voting? Why make it difficult for law abiding citizens to exercise their right to choose when our forefathers explicitly wanted us to participate in this country by ultimately voting? Why not make voting a national holiday? Why not do what Australia does and fine citizens who do not vote? We fine citizens who do not pay their fair share of taxes and most of us can agree voting is more important than taxes.
So why would any governmental official threaten voting with lies of cheating or fraud? Could it be they are insecurity and see a possibility of losing? If they know they are going to lose, they begin claiming the election is rigged before it happens 15 months before any vote is cast. This sows a distrust in the system and invalidates the will of the people. We cannot be distracted.
Because of the resilience of the American people, our democracy will survive these times we are now in. No distraction can keep us from voting.
Can our democracy function without voting? I do not have an answer because I have never lived in a country which denies voting. Keep deciding, America. Keep choosing, America! Keep voting, America! Stay focused because we are the power. We choose the leaders we have; they don’t choose us.
