Lowering Property Insurance

Yes, I do have a plan to lower your PROPERTY INSURANCE.

The high cost of property insurance has skyrocketed in the past five years. Climate Change can no longer be ignored. More severe hurricanes are plowing through Florida at an alarming frequency. Billions of dollars are spent on clean up and reconstruction which puts pressure on private insurance companies to insure Florida. How do we get this under control?

Solution

First, we designate Citizens' insurance to cover wind/hurricane coverage only. Second, we allow private insurance companies to supply all other coverage with the option to cover hurricanes. This will grow the private insurance pool and in a market economy, help to lower premiums. With Florida’s surplus of over 9 billion dollars and help from FEMA, the smartest solution is to have the state insure the catastrophic insurance instead of burdening private insurance with it.

Sustainability begins now, not tomorrow.

Decreasing Traffic Congestion

Yes, I do have a plan to decrease TRAFFIC CONGESTION in South Lake County.

Last year, the City of Clermont and the State of Florida along with help from Lake County installed Smart Traffic Lights on Highway 50 between Winter Garden and Clermont. The traffic congestion decreased because state officials were monitoring traffic flow more precisely.

Solution

This same approach can be utilized for Highway 27 from the Turnpike to Sheffield Road. In this case, we can also implement AI (Artificial Intelligence), thus cutting costs further.

Supporting First Responders

Yes, I do have a plan to better equip FIRST RESPONDERS with the challenges of interacting with our SPECIAL NEEDS CITIZENS.

Florida’s First Responders are ill equipped with the challenges of interacting with Special Needs Citizens. They are largely unfamiliar with the human neuro-divergent spectrum.

Solution

Equip first responders with the knowledge and tools needed to deal with Special Needs Floridians. This four-hour Continuing Education course including awareness and de-escalation will prepare First Responders with the humanity and grace needed to make sure every Special Needs Floridian is treated with respect and dignity.

Curbing Excessive Development

Yes, I do have a plan to curb EXCESSIVE DEVELOPMENT.

Florida’s natural beauty is threatened. Development is devouring our native trees. We are paving over paradise. Water resources are showing signs of stress and depletion. More homes are falling into sinkholes and our beaches are eroding away. What can we do as a state?

Solution

We begin by conserving and preserving our natural resources. Putting land and water aside for water reclamation and utilization. Allowing water to do what water does best, which is filter down to our aquafer. We incentivize farmers and ranchers to leave land as native as Florida. We pursue developers to add conservation and preservation land use in their development plans. We spearhead and implement water conservation/preservation models for other states to emulate.

Lowering Grocery Costs

Yes, I do have a plan to lower GROCERY COSTS.

Grocery prices have climbed putting pressure on our fixed income Floridians. More and more Floridians are becoming hungry and homeless because of it.

Solution

This may sound simple, yet we are all from gardeners. Our ancestors farmed and raised animals before the industrial revolution. We start by growing our own groceries. Having the resources available for community gardens, backyard gardens, and balcony gardens.

All of US are Immigrants

As the world’s longest current surviving constitutional charter in the history of humankind, America is having a birthday.   Looking back over two centuries, we are citizens from someplace else which makes us all immigrants. Yes, even the Native Americans came over the Bering Strait many centuries before most of our European accentors crossed the…

Safety First

In 2023, John Hopkins University conducted a study to find the leading cause of death in children in the United States. It was not drownings, or car accidents or even cancer. The number one cause of death in children ages 1-17 in America was firearms. So, as a society that treasures its children, and its…

Servants of Democracy

At his swearing in, the newly elected Mayor of Groveland Keith Keogh made two points quite clear – 1. citizens are the leaders and 2. elected officials are the servants to the citizens. I cannot agree more with him.  Once a year in selected municipalities and every two years in our state and federal jurisdictions,…
